In this tutorial we will see how to install Pycharm on Linux Ubuntu 18.04 using terminal

Pycharm is a full-featured IDE for Python and Web development.

It got built-in debugging support, Docker and Vargent support, embedded Git control, Anaconda support, syntax highlighting, code completion, ssh terminal, code refactoring, and rich navigation capabilities.

PyCharm Got Python web development frameworks like Django and Flask. Got other programming languages such as JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, Node.js and more.

PyCharm is available in two editions, Community and Professional. Community editions is free so in this tutorial, we’ll cover how to install PyCharm Community Edition on Ubuntu 18.04.

Before Get Started

Make sure you are logged in as a sudo user.

Installing PyCharm

The easiest way is to install PyCharm on Ubuntu 18.04 is by using the snappy packaging system.

To download and install the PyCharm snap package, Type Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut to open terminal and type:

Firstly Run

$sudo apt-get update

Secondly Run

$sudo apt-get upgrade

Now Run

$ sudo snap install pycharm-community --classic

The download may take some time depending on your connection speed. On successful installation of PyCharm, the following message will be displayed:

$ pycharm-community 20x.x.x from 'jetbrains' installed

OR, you can install PyCharm CE using the Ubuntu Software Center.
